Feeling SAD?

Anne wrote about Seasonal Affective Disorder, which is basically the clinical classification of the winter blues.  Now, granted, we don’t really have, y’know, seasons here in Texas.  But reading her post and then the link to the National Mental Health Association.  It reminded me of the last time I was in Toronto, in the dead of winter.  While there, I stayed near the University of Toronto at the Holiday Inn on Bloor Street.  Driving out of downtown, a local showed me a bridge that was basically a magnet for suicide attempts when the winters became, for some, unbearable.  I found an amazing article online about this, The Bloor Street Viaduct, on torontonow.com.  It not only explains the historical and sociological significance of the architectural phenomenon, but it actually hypothesizes on what suicide by viaduct feels like (!).
