May 27th Catch of the Day – Dntel

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

James Tamborello, who is the seconf half of The Postal Service, is the electronic genius behind the band Dntel. The name is pronounced din-tell for anyone who is confused. On the latest album, Dumb Luck, Dntel recruits the help of Grizzly Bear and Bright Eyes. My catch of the day is “The Distance”, which has a nice tropical flare to it. Enjoy

May 23rd Catch of the Day – Onetwo

Sunday, May 20th, 2007

Onetwo is the collaboration of Paul Humphreys, formerly of OMD, and Claudia Brucken, ex lead singer of Propaganda. Both members used influences from their previous project to incorporate a fresh outlook on flashback or new wave music. My catch today is “Cloud Nine”, which was actually written by Depeche Mode’s Martin Gore. Check out their full length album entitled Instead to hear more tracks from the band.

May 13th Catch of the Day – Natalie Walker

Sunday, May 13th, 2007

Ironically enough, my mom recommended this artist to me on the Mother’s Day edition of “Full Monty’s Catch of the Day”. The beautiful and talented Natalie Walker was born & raised in Indiana, and has since moved on to Philly where she has recorded her music. The interesting thing is that we don’t see too many artists playing this type of music coming from the Midwest. Usually this type of trip-hop music comes from overseas – pretty cool. At one time, Natalie was the lead singer of the band “Daughter Darling” before deciding to venture out on her own. I really dig this new track entitled, Crush, which is today’s catch.
