Gnarls Barkley just released their second album earlier this week entitled The Odd Couple. I have to tell you that I am really impressed with this piece of work. St. Elsewhere was a good album, but some of the songs were just a little too far out there. “Crazy” and “Gone Daddy Gone” where the only two that seemed to have that love at first listen quality. Well, I think they’ve done a better job on the new LP, bringing us songs that have more of a commercial-catchy sound. Today’s catch is “Who’s Gonna Save My Soul”, which reminds me of something that Al Green might have done earlier in his career. I love this song!!! Enjoy.

Chillville was at Emo’s Friday night for Voxtrot’s first Austin show in almost a year. The crowd mixed hardcore fans - wearing Voxtrot shirts, grabbing photos with the band, singing along with almost every song - with those only there to check out what all the buzz was about.They started with Firecracker; a ‘with a bang’ pun may be considered foul play, but is difficult to resist. The crowd was dancing, singing along; generally ignoring the miserable weather to scream at the top of their lungs. Cementing their place in fan’s hearts, Voxtrot played two encores - the second of which the impatient-to-leave completely missed out on.

Before starting, singer Ramesh Srivastava polled the audience for someone who knew the words, and then proceeded to pull her on stage. Other band members helped a few more up as the song progressed, and by the end the stage was packed, a gigantic dance party, and the perfect, euphoric ending to an eminently fun show. Catch these guys live if you can; they should be playing a few more gigs before summer, when bassist Jason Chronis goes on tour with Belaire.

On April 14th, Bjork will be releasing her latest single “Wanderlust”. The best part is that the single will also include a DVD that contains the 3-D (and 2-D) version of the video along with a pair of 3-D glasses. Death Cab For Cutie will be releasing their latest album, entitled Narrow Stairs, on May 13th. Here is an exclusive look at the cover art for the LP.

It’s been over 10 years since Portishead released their last full length album (of original material). Well, on April 29th they will drop their latest release entitled Third. Earlier this week, they gave us a little taste of what to expect by releasing the first single off the new LP. Today’s catch is “Machine Gun”, a track that lets us know that Portishead is still making music on the darker side.  As a matter of fact, the final minute of the song reminds me a little bit of the theme to The Terminator.
